Free authority scores with history
Open PageRank is a 0 to 10 authority score for registered domains, calculated from Common Crawl's open web graph by running PageRank across it and blending in authority-weighted referring domains. It is not Google's number. Google's ranking systems guide lists PageRank as one of its core ranking systems, while Open PageRank is an outside calculation that borrows the idea.
In mid-2026 the service moved from DomCop to openpagerank.keywordseverywhere.com. The announcement says DomCop, Open PageRank and Keywords Everywhere have always come from one company, Axeman Technology Solutions LLP, so no outside buyer is involved. The API was rebuilt with spam filtering, monthly history and an MCP server, and the old endpoint and keys stop working on 30 September 2026.
It is still free, within a cap. The free plan covers 30,000 domains a month at 60 requests a minute. Larger allowances, up to 4 million domains, come with Keywords Everywhere subscriptions, which start at $84 a year. The old DomCop documentation published no monthly cap, only a limit of 10,000 calls an hour.
Who Open PageRank API is for
Link builders, domain buyers and prospecting tools that need to sort long domain lists by link authority without paying per lookup. Also anyone who wants to know whether a domain's authority is climbing or fading, not just where it stands today. Existing users of the openpagerank.com v1.0 endpoint need to move their integration before 30 September 2026.
Strengths and limits
What it does well
- A free plan of 30,000 domains a month with no card, plus a browser checker and a downloadable list of the top 10 million domains.
- Up to 100 domains per request, each returned with its full monthly history in the same response.
- History back to January 2018, with interpolated months flagged as estimates rather than presented as measured.
- Built on Common Crawl's public web graph, with the calculation described step by step on the methodology page.
- Subdomain scores on the same 0 to 10 scale that do not count against the monthly allowance.
- MCP access through an official server with three tools, running on the same key and allowance as the REST API.
Where it falls short
- The free allowance is smaller for heavy users: 30,000 domains a month, where the old API's only published limit was 10,000 calls an hour.
- Coverage follows Common Crawl, so new sites and sites that block crawlers can read low until a later release picks up their links.
- It measures link authority only, not traffic, revenue or content quality, and the terms describe every score as an estimate.
- Paid volume is sold only through Keywords Everywhere subscriptions, and those are billed annually.
- The rebuild is not backwards compatible: a new endpoint, a POST request, Bearer auth and new keys, with the old ones retired on 30 September 2026.
- Link-network detection is described only in outline, so a domain scored down for manufactured authority cannot check exactly why.
Open PageRank API pricing
The free plan allows 30,000 domains a month and 60 requests a minute, with no card. Each unique valid domain counts once per request, with or without history; invalid inputs and subdomain lookups are not counted. The allowance resets on the 1st of each month, and a request that would cross it is refused with HTTP 429 before anything is counted.
Bigger tiers come with a Keywords Everywhere subscription, detected when you sign in. Bronze gives 100,000 domains a month at 120 requests a minute, Silver 200,000 at 300, Gold 1,000,000 at 600 and Platinum 4,000,000 at 1,200. Keywords Everywhere bills annually, from $84 for Bronze to $1,440 for Platinum.
For prospecting, the free plan works as a first filter, with paid metrics such as Moz's Domain Authority kept for the shortlist.
Verdict
Still free, more useful than before, and no longer effectively unlimited. Monthly history since 2018, spam filtering and an MCP server turn a single coarse number into a trend you can read, and 30,000 domains a month covers most prospecting lists. If you still call the DomCop endpoint, migrate before 30 September 2026, and quote the score as its own metric rather than as Google PageRank or Domain Authority.
