Keywords Everywhere began as a browser extension that prints search volume beside Google results, and its REST API sells those numbers to your own code. One POST with a Bearer token returns Google Keyword Planner volume, CPC, competition and a 12-month trend for up to 100 keywords. Further endpoints return related and People Also Search For ideas, the keywords a domain or URL ranks for, traffic estimates and backlinks.
The model older write-ups describe, $10 for 100,000 credits with no subscription, is not what the site sells now. Every plan is billed annually: Bronze is $84 for 100,000 credits a year, Silver $168 for 400,000, Gold $480 for 2 million and Platinum $1,440 for 8 million. Bundles run from $80 for 200,000 to $8,000 for 50 million. Credits lapse 12 months after purchase.
The key is the design decision that shapes everything else. An account has one, shared by up to 20 seats, and the extension spends from the same pool whenever it shows metrics on a supported site. The vendor's own guide warns it uses credits "even if you are just googling away for personal searches". A script and a browsing colleague share one balance, so isolate the API budget.

Who Keywords Everywhere API is for
People who already use the extension and want its numbers in a spreadsheet, a script or an AI assistant. A content team sizing a few thousand topics a month, or a small agency adding a volume column to client research, fits the Bronze and Silver allowances comfortably. The hosted MCP server lets an assistant pull volumes on the same credits without any glue code.
The wrong buyer is a product reselling keyword data at scale, where the per-keyword rate is many times DataForSEO's queued rate. It also cannot answer city-level questions, because every data call takes a country and nothing finer. And although the extension shows volumes on YouTube, Amazon and Etsy, the volume call offers only Keyword Planner or a Keyword Planner and clickstream blend, with no documented parameter for any marketplace.
Strengths and limits
What it does well
- Every endpoint's credit cost is printed in the reference, and every response returns credits consumed and credits remaining, so budgeting is arithmetic rather than guesswork.
- Since 7 June 2025 all methods work on all plans, so the $84 Bronze plan already buys the backlink, traffic and ranking-keyword endpoints.
- An official hosted MCP server at mcp.keywordseverywhere.com, authenticated with the API key or OAuth 2 and documented client by client.
- A dataSource switch between Keyword Planner alone and Keyword Planner blended with clickstream, chosen per request.
- Batches of 100 keywords on the volume call and up to 10,000 results on the ideas, ranking-keyword and backlink calls.
- Recipes well beyond curl: PHP, Laravel, Java, Python, Ruby, Node and R, plus an n8n community node, Make modules, Postman and Google Sheets.
- Synchronous responses, so there is no task queue or callback to build before the first row arrives.
Where it falls short
- Annual plans only. The FAQ rules out monthly billing, so the smallest commitment is $84 paid up front.
- Credits expire 12 months after purchase, oldest first, so over-buying a bundle for a one-off project is a real loss.
- One API key per account, shared by every seat and by the extension, which spends credits on normal browsing unless its settings are changed.
- Per keyword it costs far more than DataForSEO: $0.84 per 1,000 on Bronze and $0.16 at best, against $0.06 per queued task of up to 1,000.
- Country level only, with no region or city parameter, and no documented way to request YouTube or marketplace volumes through the API.
- The API trend covers 12 months, although the extension advertises historical volume back to 2004.
- No published rate limit or SLA, and the compare page's per-website result caps are not reconciled with the API's 10,000-result parameter.
Keywords Everywhere API pricing
Bronze is $84 a year for 100,000 credits, Silver $168 for 400,000, Gold $480 for 2,000,000 and Platinum $1,440 for 8,000,000. On the volume endpoint, where one credit buys one keyword, that is $0.84, $0.42, $0.24 and $0.18 per thousand. The site shows them as $7, $14, $40 and $120 a month, but it bills the year in one payment.
Six bundles sit alongside: $80 for 200,000, $150 for 500,000, $500 for 2 million, $1,300 for 6 million, $2,700 for 15 million and $8,000 for 50 million, falling from $0.40 to $0.16 per thousand. Plan and bundle credits alike expire a year after purchase, and upgrading keeps the credits you already hold.
Forecasting is harder than the arithmetic suggests. Ideas and ranking-keyword calls cost double, unique backlinks five times, and the extension draws on the same balance every time a teammate searches with it switched on. A pipeline that needs a predictable balance belongs on an account nobody browses with; the FAQ acknowledges people run multiple accounts with different keys.
Against DataForSEO the gap is wide. Our DataForSEO page, last read on 6 August 2026, lists keyword data at $0.06 per queued Standard task of up to 1,000 keywords, which is $60 per million on full tasks. Here Bronze works out at $840 per million and the largest bundle at $160. What the premium buys is an immediate response and one key shared with a tool your team already uses.

What practitioners say on Reddit
Almost all of the discussion is about the extension rather than the API, which is worth knowing before reading anything into it. Practitioners like the value and the convenience of volumes beside the search results, and one user of fifteen years' standing calls the numbers accurate enough to work from.
The recurring warning is credit burn. One r/juststart poster lost 800 credits in an hour researching a single term, because every suggestion and widget keyword is charged, and the settled advice is to load metrics on click or keep a separate browser profile for research. That is the same shared-pool behaviour that makes the API budget hard to forecast.
One 2024 thread asks whether prices had risen sharply, and a 2024 exchange points out the data is national rather than city level, which the API parameters confirm. The oldest quote below dates from 2020, when the same thread describes credits selling at $10 for 100,000.

Verdict
A sensible API for people already inside the Keywords Everywhere habit. The reference is unusually candid about what each call costs, every response tells you what is left, Bronze now unlocks every endpoint, and the hosted MCP server is a genuine convenience for anyone pulling volumes into an assistant.
It stopped being the cheap option some time ago. At $0.84 per thousand on Bronze, and $0.16 only after an $8,000 bundle, it costs several times DataForSEO's queued rate, and the credits expire within a year whether you use them or not. Price it on an annual volume you are confident of.
Treat the shared key as an operational decision, not a detail. The extension and every seat spend from the pipeline's balance, so give automated jobs an account of their own or turn automatic metrics off for everyone on the shared one.
