Botify API review
Best at million-URL scale
Botify exists for sites where crawl budget is a real constraint: large ecommerce, marketplaces, classifieds, publishers with millions of URLs. It joins crawl data, server logs, rankings and analytics into one model, which is how you answer questions like which templates Google actually crawls and which pages never get visited at all.
That is a genuinely different product from an SEO dataset API. You are buying analysis of your own site at a scale where standard crawlers stop being practical.
Who Botify API is for
Enterprise SEO teams on very large sites, typically past a million URLs, where crawl efficiency directly drives revenue. Below that scale the cost is impossible to justify.
Strengths and limits
What it does well
- Handles crawl and log analysis at a scale where most tools simply fail.
- Joining logs to crawl data is the only reliable way to see what Googlebot actually does on your site.
- Full API coverage, so the data can feed internal dashboards rather than living in a vendor UI.
- Crawl budget modelling that maps directly onto engineering priorities.
Where it falls short
- Quote-only pricing, generally reported in the $2,000 to $10,000 a month range, with annual contracts.
- Real implementation effort, including getting log files piped in reliably.
- Wildly disproportionate for sites under a few hundred thousand URLs.
Botify API pricing
Botify does not publish pricing. Reported figures cluster between $2,000 and $10,000 a month depending on page count, keyword volume and traffic, and contracts are typically annual.
That puts it firmly in the enterprise procurement bracket. If nobody at your company has run a software procurement process before, this is not the tool to start with.
Verdict
The right tool at genuine scale and an expensive mistake below it. If crawl budget is costing you revenue on a site with millions of URLs, it earns its price. If you are not sure whether crawl budget is your problem, it almost certainly is not.
Botify API FAQ
How much does Botify cost?
It is not published. Reported figures run between $2,000 and $10,000 a month depending on page count, keywords and traffic, on annual contracts. What does Botify do that a normal crawler cannot?
It joins crawl data with server logs, rankings and analytics at million-URL scale. That combination is what reveals which pages Googlebot actually visits, which is the core question behind crawl budget work.Do I need log files to use it?
Log analysis is a large part of the value, so getting logs piped in reliably is usually the main implementation effort. Without them you are paying enterprise prices for a crawler. When is Botify overkill?
Below roughly a million URLs, almost always. Screaming Frog, JetOctopus or OnCrawl will answer the same questions at a fraction of the cost for normal-sized sites.
