Crystallize combines a headless CMS, product information management and ecommerce behind a single GraphQL API. For catalogue-driven businesses that removes the usual integration between a CMS and a commerce platform, because they are the same system.

Unlimited languages on every plan, including free, is a notable choice for a product aimed at international retail.

Who Crystallize is for

Ecommerce and catalogue businesses that want product data and editorial content in one model and one query.

Not sensible as a general-purpose CMS: you would be paying for commerce machinery you never touch.

Strengths and limits

What it does well

  • PIM and CMS in one API removes a whole class of synchronisation work between product data and editorial content.
  • Unlimited languages on every tier including free, which is unusual and valuable for international catalogues.
  • GraphQL throughout, with product, content and order data in one query.
  • The free Particle tier allows real experimentation with 100 items and 25 orders a month.

Where it falls short

  • Atom at $949 a month plus metering is a steep step from free, and there is nothing in between.
  • Metering sits on top of the plan fee, so the headline price is a floor rather than a total.
  • Only sensible for commerce. As a content CMS it is expensive and oddly shaped.
  • Smaller ecosystem than the general-purpose platforms.

Crystallize pricing

Particle is free plus metering, with 1 tenant, 25 orders a month, 100 items, 5GB of bandwidth and 25,000 API calls. Atom is $949 a month plus metering with 1 tenant, 500 orders a month, 5,000 items, 50GB of bandwidth and 500,000 API calls. Crystal is tailored plus metering and includes 3 tenants with custom limits, SAML SSO, dedicated support and professional services.

All plans include unlimited languages and unlimited users.

Verdict

A specialist worth shortlisting if you are building catalogue commerce and are tired of syncing a PIM to a CMS. Having both in one query is a real simplification.

The $949 step from the free tier is the barrier, and for anything that is not commerce this is the wrong tool at the wrong price.
