Agility CMS review

Agility's distinguishing choice is that it manages pages and sitemap structure rather than only content items. Most headless platforms leave routing to the front end; Agility keeps a page tree in the CMS, which suits marketing teams who think in site structure rather than in content types.

It also removes the usual metering anxiety: content models, API requests and locales are unlimited on every plan, and the tiers differ on users and entries instead.

Who Agility CMS is for

Marketing teams that want to manage site structure and pages centrally, with a headless front end, and organisations that dislike usage metering.

An expensive choice for a small site given the $699 entry point.

Strengths and limits

What it does well

  • Unlimited API requests, content models and locales on every plan, which removes the most common source of surprise bills.
  • Page and sitemap management in the CMS suits marketers who think in site structure.
  • Digital asset management is included rather than being an add-on.
  • A free proof-of-concept tier with 5 users and 25,000 entries allows genuine evaluation.

Where it falls short

  • Essentials at $699 a month is the highest entry price of any self-serve plan in this directory.
  • The gap between the free proof of concept and $699 is large, with nothing between.
  • Smaller developer ecosystem than the better-known platforms.
  • The page-tree model is a strength for marketers and a constraint for developers who want routing entirely in the front end.

Verdict

Worth a look specifically for the unlimited API requests and locales, which is a genuinely different pricing philosophy from everything else here and removes a real category of risk.

The $699 entry price means it only makes sense for organisations of a certain size. Below that, Storyblok gives marketers a better editing experience for a seventh of the cost.
