Epiic Design review

Epiic's design arm sells monthly plans measured in designer hours. Start, Grow and Lead buy 30, 60 or 120 graphic designer hours a month, or half as many motion or web designer hours, at $33 an hour on monthly billing. Its terms name the operator as Get A Copywriter, Inc, and sister Epiic services sell content writing, web development and generative engine optimisation.

Requests go through Epiic's own platform, which handles multiple brands, team and client logins, Slack, Zapier and an API, plus a white-label client portal on the buyer's own domain. A senior designer reviews each project, and most requests come back within one business day.

Beside the subscription, the site sells one-off designs at fixed prices, such as a simple logo animation for $493.

Who Epiic Design is for

The obvious audience is an agency reselling design: the platform can run under the agency's own branding and domain, with unlimited brands and client logins included. Small businesses and ecommerce sellers with a regular but modest load can size a plan to the hours they expect to use.

The hour count is the number to plan around. Fifteen motion or web hours a month is less than two eight-hour days, so video or website work fills the Start plan quickly.

Strengths and limits

What it does well

  • Prices are published per hour and per plan, so the output a budget buys is stated rather than implied
  • The subscription FAQ promises source files and full ownership of approved designs, and the terms treat deliverables as work made for hire
  • A 30-day money-back guarantee on the subscription, written into the terms
  • A white-label client portal and one-click designer switching are included in every plan

Where it falls short

  • The page that prices plans at $33 an hour also promises no hourly billing, and it never says what happens to unused hours
  • Motion and web design use hours twice as fast as graphic design, so Start covers 15 hours of that work
  • The company page describes recruiting location-independent talent, beside the homepage's in-house claim, so how designers are engaged is a question for the first call
  • Refunds are limited to the first 30 days; after that, cancelling only stops the next renewal

Epiic Design pricing

Monthly billing prices designer time at $33 an hour: Start is $990 a month, Grow $1,980 and Lead $3,960, for 30, 60 or 120 graphic designer hours or 15, 30 or 60 motion or web designer hours. Quarterly billing brings Start to $891 a month and annual billing to $792. The toggle labels read minus 15% and minus 30%, but the prices shown are 10% and 20% below the monthly rate.

A Custom plan is quoted, as are teams of more than two designers. Plans can be paused or cancelled at any time, with a full refund in the first 30 days.

Verdict

Agencies that want a white-labelled design pipeline, and small teams that like to buy a defined number of designer hours, get a clear offer from Epiic. The per-hour rates, the source-file promise and the 30-day refund are all published, which makes the first month a low-risk test.

The hours framing sits awkwardly beside the promises of no hourly billing and unlimited requests, and the site does not say what happens to hours left at month end. Teams that mostly need motion or web work should also note that the same plan buys half as many of those hours, so Start covers 15.
